What is the NextGen Database?
Funded by Global Affairs Canada and the International Development Research Centre (IDRC), the NextGen Database is a fully-searchable, bilingual, online, public database that includes Canadian researchers from universities, colleges, institutes, think-tanks and civil society organizations working on international development and humanitarian assistance. Researchers are classified according to areas of focus – topics, countries, regions, demographics, etc.
The NextGen Database has been developed as a commitment to promoting collaboration in research and knowledge exchange. If you are a researcher, this database will allow you to update and promote your current areas of research focus. The Database also provides an accessible portal into your work to other Canadian academics, media, government, and civil society organisations.
The NextGen Database currently boasts more than 500 profiles. Researchers are affiliated with over 80 well-respected institutions across Canada. The more people know about it, the larger it will become!
Announcing upcoming improvements to the the NextGen Database, our online searchable directory of Canadian researchers. NextGen is teaming up with the Sustainable Development Solutions Network Canada to link research in Canada to relevant Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), mapping areas of research around the SDG agenda. Funded in part by the Government of Canada’s Sustainable Development Goals Program, NextGen will map areas of research to the SDG agenda to identify how academics in Canada contribute to the implementation of the SDGs.
