Public Influence: A Guide to Op-Ed Writing and Social Media Engagement

février 13 @ 7:00 - 9:00 EST

How does influence happen? At this launch of the book, Public Influence – A guide to Op-Ed writing and social media engagement, we will have a conversation with author and Associate Professor at Carleton University, Mira Sucharov, about how she uses her authority as an academic to engage in, and try to shift, public debate and commentary through media and social media on issues she researches. We will hear from Christine McAllister, who ran as an MPP for Ottawa Centre, about the intersections between the public, media, and influence. And we will hear from Fraser Reilly-King, formerly with the Canadian Council for International Co-operation, about how he thinks about policy influence for public good. Joel Westheimer, Research Chair in Democracy and Education at the University of Ottawa, will facilitate the discussion.
