Join MCIC for a walk and respectful conversation on topics related to sustainability and the SDGs in Gimli on September 22 from 7pm – 8pm CDT!
Walk the Talk is a public event series hosted by the Manitoba Council for International Cooperation that offers an opportunity for the general public in Manitoba to engage in and discuss topics related to international development and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This is a discussion series where participants engage in conversation with other global citizens while experiencing nature.
The September Walk the Talk event will take place during Canada’s Gender Equality Week and discussion topics will focus on improving conditions for women and girls in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, and on empowering women and girls locally and internationally.
Topics for Conversation:
Theme 1 SDG 3, SDG 4, & SDG 5: What role could educators play to ensure COVID-19 pandemic response strategies adequately address children’s issues, especially girls’ issues, locally and in the Global South?
Theme 2 SDG 8, SDG 5, & SDG 12: If you choose to travel to Global South destinations post-COVID-19 pandemic, how can you contribute to the empowerment of local women?
Theme 3 SDG 5 & SDG 16: In celebration of Gender Equality Week in Canada, how could Canada’s notable feminists and gender equality champions be meaningfully recognized nation-wide?
Theme 4 SDG 5: How do we close the technology gap for women and girls in rural, remote and Global South destinations?
Theme 5 SDG 5, SDG 10 & SDG 14: How can women and Indigenous groups be meaningfully included in progress on local and international freshwater protection issues like sustainable use of freshwater resources and support for sustainable and small-scale fishing?
