Understanding the THRIVE Agenda
June 27 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm EDT
On Tuesday, June 4th, the Prime Minister made an announcement committing to increase federal government contributions to reach $1.4 billion annually, starting in 2023, in support of women and girls’ health around the world. Making a ten-year commitment, this funding will support sexual and reproductive health rights and maternal, newborn, and child health – with $700 million of the annual investment dedicated to sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR). Together these commitments are framed as the “Thrive Agenda”.
This announcement was widely celebrated in the sector and is the culmination of a concerted effort by a broad coalition of advocates to ensure ongoing investments in this area; and a dedicated focus on neglected areas of SRHR. Given the significance of this announcement – with implications for both Canadian ODA and GAC programming – and the many advocacy lessons this process has revealed, CCIC has arranged to host a webinar to share critical insights on these topics with CSO stakeholders.
Date/Time: Thursday, June 27th, 11:00-12:30 PM (ET) in English
A summary in French by Nicolas Moyer and Sophie Rosa of CCIC will be offered the same day 1-1:30 PM
