Climate Action Network Canada Days on the Hill
March 9 @ 9:00 am - March 11 @ 8:00 pm EDT
From the 9th to 11th our network will converge in Ottawa for three days of meetings with ministers & members of parliament, government relations training, receptions, and celebrations. These few days of intense meetings are of the utmost importance in shaping this new government’s priorities, and to ensure they deliver the kind of bold, ambitious climate legislation we need in the next few years. I don’t need to tell you how much opportunities like this cannot be passed up if we are going to present ourselves as the powerful, united movement we need to be in order to secure wins during these pivotal first years of the new decade.
In addition to our annual “lobby days” efforts, and government relations training, this year we will be hosting two exciting events. On Monday, March 9th we’ll be co-hosting a cinq à sept Green New Deal reception alongside several members of parliament. This event will be open to all Climate Action Network members, MPs, and Senators, in addition to a few special guests. We see this event as an incredibly important chance to socialize our representatives with the concept of a Green New Deal, and to demonstrate the groundswell of support that exists within the climate community for such an effort.
Second (and maybe what we’re most excited for) is CAN-Rac’s 30th Anniversary Party, being hosted on the evening of Wednesday the 11th. Location is still TBA, but we like to imagine it will be the social event of the season, and an evening not to be missed! We can’t wait to unwind after a busy few days, and celebrate all of the amazing achievements the network has worked so hard for these past three decades.
