Since the beginning of the Open Forum process - and even before that, during the Advisory Group on CSOs and Aid Effectiveness - CCIC has played an integral role in developing the Istanbul Principles and the International Framework. CCIC sat on the Coordinating Group of the Open Forum, organized national consultations, and helped draft and shape the Principles and International Framework. Looking forward, we are conducting pilot implementation workshops and working with some of the Provincial Councils on key public engagement tools and resources.|
Public engagement tools on the Istanbul Principles
To help popularize and socialize the Istanbul Principles among our membership, the general public and the media, CCIC has worked in collaboration with the Provincial and Regional Councils to develop a number of resources.

The Open Forum’s first Global Assembly took place in Istanbul, September, 2010. In the lead-up to this Assembly more than 60 country consultations took place around the world on appropriate principles that should guide CSOs as development actors and the enabling conditions for CSOs, donors and governments to ensure that CSOs are effective development actors.
