Women’s Mentorship Program- Gender Facilitator

BACKGROUND:

CDF’s Women’s Mentorship Program (WMP) is an annual month-long training program for women leaders of financial co-operatives in Africa and Asia. The 2018 program will be taking place from June 2nd – June 29th. This year is the 18th cohort of the program and 14-16 women credit union managers will be coming from different continents. Each participant is assigned to one Canadian credit union for 1 ½ weeks’ worth of job-shadowing with a general manager as a mentor. Participants will also undertake a 2 ½ week classroom training program on general leadership issues and day-to-day credit union operations. For more information please visit our website.

 

 

ABOUT THE ASSIGNMENT:

The volunteer will provide support for the 2018 Women’s Mentorship Program. Based in CDF’s Ottawa headquarters, the successful candidate will work with the Women’s Mentorship Program facilitators to deliver gender training activities to participants.

 

ACTIVITIES AND DELIVERABLES:

  • Facilitate two gender sessions to sensitize participants on gender objectives
  • To implement gender activities in classroom
  • Provide support for review of materials from a gender perspective
  • Other tasks as required

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Degree or equivalent experience in International Development and/or Social Science (focus on gender an asset)
  • 3-5 years of experience as a gender expert/specialist.
  • Knowledge of gender issues
  • Experience with participatory approaches and methodologies an asset
  • Experience facilitating group learning/training sessions or focus groups
  • Ability to speak and write in English
