Position title: Coordinator - Campus Engagement Team and Student Refugee Program
Position location: Ottawa, Ontario
Reports to: Senior Manager, CE and SRP
Contract term: 1 year, maternity leave (starting October 10th)

WUSC is the leading Canadian NGO working with students, faculty and college and university leaders on issues of international engagement. A central component of WUSC’s strategic plan is continued delivery and expansion of our programming on Canadian campuses with increased focus on student programs and initiatives that underscore our unique relationship with the Canadian post-secondary community, and contribute to the internationalization of Canadian campuses.

Key areas of Responsibility:

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Campus Engagement and the Student Refugee Program, the Coordinator of Campus Engagement and Student Refugee Program  has the overall responsibility for managing the implementation of the SRP in Canada and the support provided to WUSC’s network of Local Committees on Canadian campuses.  
More specifically, the successful candidate will:

 

Manage relationships with key stakeholders in Canada:

  • Liaise with the external partners, including Canadian university, college and CEGEP administration as needed to support the relationships required to expand WUSC’s campus network in Canada.
  • Prepare narrative annual and semi-annual reports to funders.  Ensure that activities and reports are in line with the financial obligations and budgets under relevant donor contracts.
  • Oversee and prepare updates to the WUSC Board of Directors and Senior Management.

Manage and continue to strengthen campus based programs and initiatives:

  • Oversee the design and delivery of leadership development and mobilization activities for Local Committee (LC) members, including trainings, workshops, tools and materials, monitoring and support and ongoing communications.
  • Implement strategies to increase the number of sponsoring groups and Local Committees including francophone and college groups.
  • Contribute to the annual workplans for in-Canada SRP programming and coordinate the ongoing operations of the program delivery in Canada.
  • Regularly monitor and evaluate the quality and effectiveness of WUSC’s campus-based programming.
  • Oversee the maintenance of and day to day usage of data and information management tools, with particular attention to  the CRM database.

Manage the Campus and SRP team staff responsible for:

  • Placement of Sponsored Students
  • Monitoring and ensuring the success of SRP sponsorships
  • Local Committee mobilization and Training
  • Student Refugee Program training
  • Mobilization of WUSC LCs on Canadian campuses, helping grow the LC network on new campuses with CEGEPs and colleges
  • Liaise with key staff to coordinate activities related to outreach and engagement on Canadian Campuses

Program Development (PD) and Monitoring and Evaluation:

  • Coordinate and support resource development initiatives as required.
  • Support PD initiatives related to youth engagement and integration
  • Work closely with the Senior Manager of Campus Engagement and the Student Refugee Program in the conception, design and development of monitoring and evaluation tools

Other:

  • Support the development of the International Forum programming.
  • Represent the organization at meetings as required.

Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in international development or related field
  • 7 years related experience in progressively more responsible positions, including personnel management experience
  • Project/program coordination and Reporting experience
  • Work experience in:
    • developing and managing effective partnerships
    • refugee and/or immigration issues
    • developing and implementing Monitoring and Evaluation tools
    • Budget management
    • Workshop facilitation, delivering trainings and tool development
  • Demonstrated human resources and team management skills
  • Proven commitment to supporting the goals of gender equality and in ensuring the mainstreaming of gender in all initiatives  
  • Experience managing government contracts an asset
  • Knowledge of the internationalization goals and capacities of Canadian colleges and universities an asset
