Job Title:               Program Coordinator
Department:          International Disaster Response Team (IDRT)
Reports to:            Associate Director IDRT
Status:                  Full time, exempt
Salary Level:         12

PURPOSE:

The position is responsible for the coordination and administration of a set of projects within World Renew’s International Disaster Response Team (IDRT). The majority of these projects receive funding through World Renew's membership in the Canadian Foodgrains Bank (CFGB).  These projects require the use and management of a centralized data collection system to support the monitoring and evaluation requirements. The position will provide surge capacity, as needed, in sudden onset emergencies and support other IDRT projects as assigned.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

PROGRAMMING

Canadian Foodgrains Bank projects



  1. Coordinate the program cycle of assigned CFGB food assistance, food security and nutrition projects in accordance with funding, Core Humanitarian Standards (CHS) and other applicable standards’ while also ensuring participation of key stakeholders
  2. Ensure quality information management through regular maintenance of project files, reporting calendars, as well as the timely submission and updating of internal World Renew documentation related to CFGB projects
  3. Ensure that project monitoring and evaluation, including financial monitoring, takes place in a timely manner on all CFGB project (e.g. maintain a global Monitoring & Evaluation schedule)
  4. Manage the day-to-day functioning of the project data collection and monitoring system, including liaising with field staff on the set-up of project tools and real-time monitoring of results
  5. Develop tools and resources to support the consistent quality of implementation of CFGB project implementation

Small Response projects

  1. Review and coordinate “Small Response” proposals that are sole funded by World Renew IDRT for small scale disaster response initiatives
  2. Build disaster response capacity of field staff by providing one on one follow up support, in proposal development, report writing, and other topics relevant to their response
  3. Encourage field staff and partners, connected with projects, to provide periodic updates or stories that can be used in communications material

CAPACITY BUILDING AND SUPPORT

  1. Support colleagues in IDR team by, when necessary, collaborating on proposals for submission, supporting needs assessments, providing surge capacity in sudden-onset emergencies and participating in project evaluations
  2. Attend and participate in meetings of the team and contribute to a team culture of mutual support, accountability and learning
  3. Participate in World Renew working group(s)
  4. Other duties as assigned


SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

This position has no ongoing supervisory responsibilities but may, from time-to-time, supervise volunteers, interns or contractors.



QUALIFICATIONS:

  9. Working knowledge of disaster response and community development issues and processes, in particular applicable gender and environment policies and practices
  10. Detail-oriented with good multi-tasking abilities and communication skills, both oral and written
  11. Professional, co-operative demeanour
  12. Disciplined, self-motivated work style; able to function competently and productively with little supervision
  13. Demonstrated ability to adapt to changing needs and priorities, including a willingness to learn new skills
  14. Demonstrated organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
  15. Demonstrated ability to conceptualise, work with numbers, prepare and write reports

 

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

  1. A university-level degree in statistics, project management or other relevant field
  2. A minimum of three years of experience working with grants from institutional donors
  3. A minimum of three years of experience in an administrative role
  4. Experience with livelihoods, nutrition, or agricultural programming in an emergency context
  5. Previous experience with gender mainstreaming or analysis, a definite asset


LANGUAGE:

Written and oral competency in English is required.  Written and oral competency in French, Spanish or another language is an asset.

This incumbent will travel regularly to conduct needs assessments and gather first-hand information to formulate project proposals and reports. The physical conditions in disaster areas and contacts with disaster survivors are physically and mentally challenging.
