Job description - overview

As Outreach and Communications Manager, your role will be to develop, manage and implement strategies to amplify RESULTS Canada’s brand, enlist new strategic partners in our mission, and support and grow our grassroots base to maximize the impact of grassroots action.



Key Tasks

  • Oversee strategic communications efforts, tools and tactics, that support our volunteers, drive outreach to new partners and ensure our campaigns and advocacy activities have maximum impact
  • Develop, manage, and oversee RESULTS Canada’s strategy to (a) grow our movement and expand RESULTS Canada’s base of support, and (b) support our existing volunteers so that they have the tools and resources they need to take effective action
  • Participate as a member of RESULTS Canada’s management team, working with the Executive Director and others, to advance organizational and campaign objectives
  • Oversee the work of the grassroots and communications teams, which includes two full time staff, occasional staff, and interns
  • Develop a strategy to amplify RESULTS’ brand through the development of corporate products, earned, bought and digital media
  • Support grassroots fundraising campaigns and communications tools to engage current and prospective donors
  • Support grassroots engagement and communications efforts around key events, such as RESULTS’ national conference, annual grassroots volunteers group leaders’ retreat, and other special events
  • Support the development of new educational resources and campaign tools related to development issues, public outreach, and civic rights and opportunities for engagement
  • Represent RESULTS Canada at public events, forums, conferences, as required
  • Willingness to work outside of office hours as required and ability to travel occasionally


Skills and experience

  • Post-secondary degree in a relevant field (i.e., volunteer coordination, communications, public relations, international development, etc.)
  • Experience in advocacy work and/or political/public engagement
  • Knowledge of best practices and emerging trends in community engagement and public outreach
  • Experience in strategic communications, and in developing communications tools and tactics that are clear, compelling and fit for purpose
  • Proven ability to support and grow volunteer networks, as well as develop tools and materials designed for volunteers
  • Experience in supporting grassroots fundraising campaigns a strong asset
  • Experience managing a team, including work planning, budgeting, mentoring and performance evaluation
  • Knowledge of key issues relating to international development, advocacy and poverty eradication is an asset
  • Bilingualism (English/French) is essential
