    Reporting to the Manager, Direct Response, the Fund Development Officer, Digital & Community Fundraising will drive new fundraising opportunities by developing and executing a strategic plan that maximizes net income from third party events, peer-to-peer fundraising, tribute/symbolic gifts, Oxfam fundraising signature events, and revenue generating community engagement. The position will explore and build new national fundraising opportunities, develop and recommend strategic directions for existing programs and new initiatives.

    MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is not an exhaustive list of duties to be performed)


    • Contributes to the overall fund development plan by developing an annual action plan to secure and maximize net revenues from third party events, peer-to-peer fundraising, revenue generating community engagement initiatives and tributes / symbolic giving programs;
    • Works closely with the Manager, Direct Response to develop a budget, and identify, assess, recommend, and develop new funding opportunities and initiatives that increase revenues and generate awareness for the work of Oxfam Canada;
    • Identifies, cultivates and stewards donors to support Oxfam Canada's strategic priorities;
    • Collaborates with the Integrated Marketing team, to develop and implement a national plan to support Oxfam Canada's peer to peer and ‘Do It Yourself’ (DIY) fundraising products (Hunger Banquets, Oxjam etc.);
    • Implements and refines the plan to expand and support peer-to-peer and community third party fundraising by providing easy to download tools and resources for DIY personal fundraising;
    • Manages and maintains all online portals that support personal and peer-to-peer fundraising and tribute/symbolic giving such as Unwrapped
    • Designs and creates social media and digital content for portfolio, and works closely with Integrated Marketing team for implementation
    • Works closely with other members of the Direct Response team to ensure that appropriate stewardship and recognition are in place for all campaigns in the Digital and Community Fundraising portfolio




    • Knowledge, understanding and commitment to global justice, social change, women’s rights and gender equality.
    • University degree or post-secondary diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience working in fundraising, marketing or related field.
    • Five years fundraising experience, with a minimum of three years’ experience in  designing and executing digital-based fundraising initiatives such as peer to peer, DIY and social media fundraising campaigns
    • Proven history of achievement in program implementation and meeting or exceeding fundraising revenue targets and goals.
    • Strong project-management skills with knowledge and experience working from conceptualizing ideas through to operations and final delivery.
    • Proven ability to lead collaborative processes engaging diverse stakeholders.
    • Demonstrated budget management and client management skills.
    • Demonstrated excellent research and negotiation skills with the ability to persuade.
    • Sound knowledge and experience using social networking tools (Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest)
    • Experience with Wordpress and/or Drupal website platforms would be an asset
    • Experience with Salesforce or other CRM
    • E-commerce experience an asset
    • Experience with Engaging Networks or other digital marketing platforms a strong asset
    • Excellent writing and communication skills.
    • Ability to undertake national travel as required and internationally, sometimes in difficult circumstances.
