SCOPE OF POSITION:
Under the direction of the Director, Finance & Operations, the Manager, Finance & Administration (Manager, F&A): ensures that timely and accurate accounting and financial services are provided to the internal and external clients of the organization; manages the building operations and material management services; supervises the Finance and Administration Team; and performs other operational support related duties.
The Manager F&A possesses solid technical, communication, technology, analytical and management skills. She/he also possesses knowledge of all aspects of the generally accepted accounting principles in Canada and must demonstrate a high level of responsibility and initiative in a similar position and work environment.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES: (This is not an exhaustive list of duties to be performed)
1- ACCOUNTING and FINANCIAL SERVICES: (50% of duties)
The Manager F&A ensures that timely and accurate accounting and financial services are provided to clients. This will include:
Planning & Budgeting – coordination of annual budget process and quarterly forecast reviews; development and oversight of operational and capital budgets, etc.
Accounting, Monitoring & Reconciliations – monitoring and review of accounts payable and receivable, review and approval of balance sheet accounts and bank reconciliations, etc.
Reporting & Analysis – production of departmental and organization-wide financial statements, provision of periodic financial reporting and analysis, etc.
Audits & Compliance – liaising with external auditors, coordination of internal audits, supporting and monitoring Finance Team work in preparation of year end organizational audits, etc.
Back-Up and Support – providing back-up support to critical tasks as needed
2 - BUILDING OPERATIONS and MATERIAL MANAGEMENT: (25% of duties)
The Manager, F&A shall manage the building operations and materials management services. This will include:
Building Operations – overseeing overall building property management services, developing and maintaining maintenance systems and implementation of preventative maintenance processes, managing insurance coverage and claims, managing tenant relations, etc.
Material Management – managing and monitoring material management budget, overseeing the maintenance of an Asset Register, etc.
3 - SUPERVISION: (15% of duties)
The Manager, F&A shall provide supervision of the Finance and Administrative team. This includes:
Leading, mentoring , motivating and providing clear direction to Finance & Administration team, delegating work objectives, managing work performance and completing performance reviews
4 - OTHER DUTIES: (10% of duties)
The Manager F&A shall complete other Operational Support duties as required
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES:
A university degree in a related field (Accounting or Business Administration) or equivalent.
A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in accounting, preferably in a not-for-profit, non-governmental organizations,
A minimum of two (2) years in a supervisory role;
Strong knowledge of all aspects of the generally accepted accounting principles in Canada
Strong technological skills in accounting software, spreadsheets, word processing;
Demonstrated ability to analyse problems, make recommendations and exercise sound judgment;
Excellent attention to details;
Excellent English oral and written communication;
Excellent interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to be able to work effectively in a team environment;
Excellent client service skills;
Adaptable, flexible, and demonstrated ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines;

Commitment to global justice, women’s rights, gender equality, and social change.
A professional accounting designation recognized in Canada such as CA, CGA or CMA;
Experience working with the Great Plains accounting system, or a similar accounting system;
Knowledge and/or experience with building systems (HVAC, plumbing, electrical), mechanical/electrical codes, and Municipal and Provincial Health & Safety and Fire regulations;
Demonstrated experience in property management;
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, Mechanical & Electrical drawings and technical manuals;
Experience working with CRMs, preferably SalesForce;
Experience working with the Oxfam Confederation, Global Affairs Canada, or working overseas;
Fluency in Spanish or French;
Experience working in a cross-cultural setting.
