The organization

Development and Peace is one of the leading Canadian international development NGOs and the official international solidarity organization of the Canadian Catholic Church. Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director – Communications and Fundraising Development, the Fundraising Development Officer – Major Gifts and Planned Giving is responsible for carrying out and following up on fundraising campaigns in the field of major gifts and planned giving. The Officer's field of activity can vary depending on the department's priorities and work plan. He or she must maintain ongoing relationships with current and potential donors.

 

Requirements

Academic background

  • Bachelor's degree in law, social sciences, communication , administration or the equivalent
  • Be a member of the Canadian Association of Gift Planners (CAGP)  (asset)

Languages

  • Fluency in French and English, both spoken and written
  • Ability to compose and revise texts in both languages

Software and computer programs

  • Proficiency in the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of a database software program

Experience

  • Four years of relevant experience in fundraising development
  • Relevant experience in planned giving, especially in endowment funds, bequests, insurance and life annuities
  • Experience in a non-profit organization, working with volunteers or donors

Specific knowledge

  • Good knowledge of pan-Canadian legislation affecting fundraising, especially planned giving
  • Good knowledge of the Privacy Act
  • Good knowledge of the social, economic, political, religious and cultural issues in Canada
  • Good knowledge of the issues involving international development
  • Knowledge of the Church and its commitment to issues regarding social justice and international development (asset)

Availability

  • Availability to travel within Canada and outside of Canada
  • Availability to work occasionally during evenings and weekends

 

Working conditions

  • Salary and benefits according to Collective agreement.
