The organization

Development and Peace is one of the leading Canadian international development NGOs and the official international solidarity organization of the Canadian Catholic Church. With annual revenues ranging between $25 million and $35 million, the organization supports local partners located in several countries of the Global South. With a network of members across Canada, Development and Peace raises the awareness of Canadians about the causes of worldwide poverty and injustice and mobilizes Canadians around actions for change.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Deputy Director of the In-Canada Programs Department, the Fundraising Development Officer – Direct Donations is responsible for producing and monitoring Development and Peace’s direct mail and online solicitation campaigns as well as its monthly donation program. In addition, the Officer works in close collaboration with the people making up the various teams within the In-Canada Programs Department, the International Programs Department and Administrative Services.

Requirements

Academic background

  • Bachelor's degree in the social sciences, communication, marketing, administration or the equivalent
  • Certificate in philanthropic management

Languages

  • Fluency in French and English, spoken and written
  • Ability to compose and revise texts in both languages

Software and computer programs

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Knowledge of a database software
  • Knowledge of and familiarity with social media platforms

Experience

  • Four years of relevant experience (fundraising)
  • Significant experience in direct marketing and direct mail campaigns
  • Experience in developing online donation strategies
  • Experience in a non-profit organization

Availability

  • Availability to travel occasionally in Canada
  • Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends

Working conditions

  • Salary and benefits according to Collective Agreement
