The organization

Development and Peace is one of the leading Canadian international development NGOs and the official international solidarity organization of the Canadian Catholic Church. With a network of members across Canada, Development and Peace raises the awareness of Canadians about the causes of worldwide poverty and injustice and mobilizes Canadians around actions for change.

Responsibilities

Reporting to the Director of the International Programs Department and working in collaboration with the programming teams and the Deputy Director, the task of the Funding Research Officer for International Projects is to develop DEVELOPMENT AND PEACE's capacity to finance international projects and enable D&P to give that capacity concrete form through specific proposals.

  • The Officer will be responsible for identifying potential donor agencies and working with directors to maintain a relationship with those financial backers;
  • The Officer will be responsible for producing all documentation concerning the submission of funding proposals to the various donor agencies;
  • The Officer will participate in defining the programs and development strategies for projects in coordination with the programming teams;
  • The Officer will support and enhance institutional memory by recording the indicators selected, results obtained, lessons learned and how risks were managed, all of which will serve as the foundation for future submissions.

 

Requirements

Academic background

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field
  • Master's degree  in a relevant field (an asset)

Languages

  • Fluency in French, English and Spanish, spoken and written.
  • Capacity to compose, revise and translate texts

Software and computer programs

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Familiarity with database software programs

Experience

  • Four years of relevant field experience in international development
  • Five year experience in the preparation of bilateral and multilateral projects

Specific knowledge

  • Very good knowledge of international development
  • Very good knowledge of the Church and its commitments in social justice matters
  • Very good knowledge and experience in the tendering processes of multilateral banks and CIDA
  • Knowledge of project development tools (e.g., RBM)

Availability

  • Availability to travel within Canada and abroad
  • Available for occasional weekend work

Working conditions

  • Salary and benefits according to Collective Agreement
