Position Title:   Website & Social Media Coordinator
Position Location:   Ottawa, Ontario                                             
Reports to:   Marketing & Communications Officer
Status:   Full-time, fixed-term – 1 year contract
Travel Requirement:   1 trip per year

General Description

Reporting to the Marketing & Communications (M&C) Officer, the Website and Social Media Coordinator creates compelling and dynamic content that will build and sustain awareness about the organization using key social media sites such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and blogs. The Social Media Coordinator works collaboratively with colleagues from across the organization to promote the goals, messages, image and awareness of the organizations mission.  The coordinator will support the development, implementation and monitoring of social media campaigns across a number of platforms and will write and gather content for electronic publications, social media and blogs.


  • In collaboration with the M&C Officer, develop communication assets to support organizational success,
  • Listen to and monitor all social media outlets: pages, sites, blogs on a daily basis and post/respond on particular topics or in response to other post/comments,
  • Designs communication and marketing assets, including brochures, newsletters, banners, social media posts, infographics and website pages,
  • Develops innovative and creative media content across social media platforms,
  • Responds to inquiries and comments on established channels in real time as necessary,
  • Leads the maintenance of and provides website content - Use alerts, search and other tools to monitor for mentions,
  • Monitors trends and encourages adoption of social media tools,
  • Monitors internet for brand related topics of conversation,
  • Maintains and organizes CCA communication databases and equipment,
  • Designs, analyses, collects and reports on a CCA communication analytics plan,
  • Supports the development and delivery of communication material by managing the social media calendar, posting to social media and website platforms, photo and video editing, document layout, proofreading, and e-mail distribution,
  • Prepares reports that measure and define the social media success and activities,  
  • Assists the M&C Officer in delivering communication training,
  • Collaborates with design firms and outside consultants, when applicable.


  • 5+ years experience planning, testing, launching, monitoring, optimizing and measuring social media campaigns.
  • Post-secondary degree/diploma in communications, social and/or interactive media or equivalent combination of professional and academic experience.


  • Demonstrated experience using various social media and other online engagement platforms including Facebook, Twitter, Flickr, Instagram, webinars and e-mail sending tools (Constant Contact, MailChimp); Working knowledge of MIS and data management tools (i.e.: DPO, Excel);
  • High level applied knowledge of HTML, CSS and content management systems (CMS),
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience designing social media programs, 
  • Experience working with graphic, video and photo editing software,
  • Demonstrated experience developing, maintaining and managing web sites,
  • Demonstrated experience writing content for websites, blogs, social networks,
  • Advanced computer skills with proficiency with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Publisher, Adobe Photoshop, Final Cut Pro, and other programs,
  • Experience with co-operative, not-for-profit and/or international development sectors an asset,
  • Convey a sense of community and build a following based on valuation content and mutual sharing.

Other Requirements

Proficiency in French, Spanish and/or other languages.
