Human rights and the Canada-Colombia FTA

May 14, 2012

On May 15 2012, the Conservative government is required to table a report in Parliament on the human rights impacts, both in Canada and in Colombia, of the Canada-Colombia Free Trade Agreement (CCOFTA). This is an opportunity to debate whether Canada is taking the necessary steps to ensure that its FTA with Colombia doesn’t exacerbate the ongoing human rights crisis in the Latin American country.
