Yes, it soon will be that time of the year again - time for the CCIC community to congregate in Ottawa to take stock of the current trends, debate on key issues for collective work in the sector, and identify priorities for the year to come. And also - very importantly - to network and celebrate together.
Please mark your calendars and plan to be with us on the 24th and 25th of May for a series of stimulating discussions animated by a stellar line-up of speakers from Canada and abroad. And on the 25th afternoon do not miss the CCIC 2012 AGM – where we will evaluate the work of the last year, plan ahead and elect new board members too!
Issues to be addressed via keynotes in plenary, panel discussions and workshops during the CCIC Annual Forum (24th and 25th a.m.) include:
-The CCIC code of ethics, accountability and the Istanbul principles: where to next?
-Changing funding realities and their impact on the sector
-Role of the private sector in development: mapping our engagement
-The transparency challenge: IATI and NGOs
-Enabling environment for CSOs – resituating the policy dialogue, advocacy and public engagement roles
-Profiling the sector: who we are and what we do
On the 25th morning, we will also hold a concurrent Leaders Forum designed to bring the heads of our member organizations together to discuss strategic issues of crucial importance to the sector: Occupying our Narrative: Defining a Sector in Transition. As was the practice when Leaders Forums were instituted at CCIC, we want to encourage EDs/CEOs to invite the Chairs of their Boards to also join this event – as a way for them to interact for half-a-day with other top leaders in the sector, and participate in a discussion on a defining challenge of our times.
Other features of the two-day event include a discussion on the strategic planning process for CCIC in the mid-term and a Coalitions in Action Bazaar, a “market place” featuring the many coalitions that are keeping the sector’s capacity to do collective policy work alive. And last, but definitely not least, we are putting together an interesting and fun-filled Soiree on the 25th, were we hope to see many of you in full form!
An e-mail alert will be sent to all CCIC member contacts and EDs/CEOs in April once the registration process is open for the CCIC Annual Forum and AGM. Stay tuned!
